Mary Osborne Surfs The WAV
Mary Osborne is a pro surfer, author, model and is also making her mark as a host and personality. Mary recently opened her own business called Solymar Spray Tanning located in Ventura, Ca. Mary and I met through close friends photographer David Pu’u and Donna Von Hoesslin, owner of Betty Belts. We began communicating about doing a photo shoot together. Mary intrigued me as a subject because her talent inspired me after watching her win the longboard division on MTV’s “Surf Girls”. I wanted to photograph her in a unique setting from previous images I’ve seen of her. I was able to locate a make-up artist from Architexture salon and access into the retail space at the WAV (Working Artist Ventura). With the help of some colleges and friends the shoot turned out to be a success. Not only was I celebrating Mary and her beauty, I was celebrating the WAV and enjoying the openness and freshness of this vacant space.
